FAQs

What type of metals does Ritzy Royale use?

  • We use a wide range of metals, including rhodium, sterling silver and gold (24K, 22K, 18K, 14K– yellow and rose gold) and stainless steel.

Does any of your jewellery contain nickel?

  • All our rhodium, silver and stainless steel materials are nickel free. They are hypoallergenic so you won’t get any skin reaction. With Gold finishes, they have less than 0.1 percent of nickel. Your chance of a reaction might decrease with 18 karat gold, which is 75 percent gold however if you wear gold that's only 12 carats or 9 carats — containing a higher amount of nickel or another metal, you might be more likely to have a reaction.

Why do pure metals need to be mixed with other metals?

  • You will find examples of jewellery made of pure metals like platinum, but pure gold is soft and isn't practical for daily wear. Other metals are mixed with gold to make it more durable (and to lower its cost). For instance, platinum or nickel can be added to pure gold to create white gold; adding copper produces a rose or pink tint; while silver gives gold a greenish tint. Even though gold will be in different carats, it is still categorised as solid gold.

What is Gold-Plating?

  • Gold-plated jewellery is when a base metal is covered with a thin layer of gold, giving a gleaming polished look but one that will have to be maintained. Gold-plated jewellery can be the biggest source of allergic reactions due to the plating wearing off and the base metal being exposed thereby causing irritation to the wearer. Ritzy Royale uses Sterling Silver and Stainless Steel as the base metals to reduce the risk of allergic reactions.

How much pure metal is in my jewellery, and how can I tell?

  • The purity of the metal used in each piece of jewellery is shown by a stamp or hallmark.
  • Platinum is 95% pure (PT950)
  • Gold
    18ct is 75% pure (750)
    14ct is 58.4% pure (584)
10ct is 41.7% pure (417) (10ct is the minimum for some countries to be classed as gold, eg. USA & parts of Europe)
    9ct is 37.5% pure (375)
  • Sterling silver is 92.5% pure (925 or S925)

Should I have my gemstone settings checked?

  • All gemstone rings, especially those with prong settings, should be checked for security annually and worn with relative care. We use our hands constantly, and bumps to the stone or metal can cause shifts and looseness. Rough diamonds are not designed for jewellery in the way cut diamonds are. For that reason, they should be worn with extra care and checked frequently to be sure the prongs are tight and the diamond is secure.

How do I clean my ring?

  • If you take proper care of your jewellery, it can remain looking new for a long time. Remove your jewellery at night and put it in a safe place where several pieces will not rub against each other. Also, avoid contact of your jewellery with substances such as perfume, bleach, cosmetics, soap, hairsprays, etc.

For a simple cleaning at home, we recommend mixing some mild washing up liquid in warm water, soaking your ring or other jewellery for five minutes, and using a soft bristled baby toothbrush to gently clean behind stones or settings. Air dry, then finish with a polishing cloth. We do not recommend chemical jewellery cleaners because they may damage certain stones.

Do you offer a warranty on the jewellery I purchase from Ritzy Royale?

  • Yes, we offer 12 months warranty to protect against manufacturer defects in craftsmanship. The warranty does not include normal wear and tear or damages incurred due to trauma, negligence, lack of regular maintenance, loss, or theft.

Can I return an item that was given to me as a gift?

Place the gift in its original packaging with the invoice and ship it via a carrier of your choice on recorded delivery - in a little while we will start to issue return labels, please bear with us as we are just starting up. Will the buyer of my returned gift know that it was returned?

  • No, we will not alert the buyer that the gift was returned.

When will the payment be taken?

  • Payment will be taken from your credit or debit card as soon as you have placed your order. To ensure safe shopping, we are Version certified.
Why do pieces of jewellery that look nearly the same differ so much in price?
  • Several features can affect the value of gold jewellery. One-of-a-kind designer jewellery can be very costly. Different finishes, plating, gemstone  type and quality or base material can alter the value. Also, heavier pieces can be more costly than lighter ones, as gold is often sold by weight.
